Gauri Kund

Gauri Kund is located just below Dolma Pass. It is supposed to be the pond in which Mother Parvati takes bath. It is really wonderful that the pond is emerald green reflecting the color of Mother. where as the water is crystal clear. The water of Gauri Kund is supposed to have cancer curing properties.

VIEWS OF HOLY KAILASH - A PHOTO ALBUM # 11

Having had the Darshan of Divine Mother Parvati in the next posting we will see the bathing ghat of the Mother.

View of Dolma Pass in June

Dolma Pass is the highest point in the whole yatra. It is also called as Shiv Sakthi sthal. This is considered to be the sanctum santorum of the Lord and Mother. Dolma is Tara Devi for Tibetians and Parvati for Hindus. We worship mother here. It is also the difficult point in the whole of Parikrama. Our group was lucky that we stayed here for around 30 minutes and did havan by Her Grace, as the weather was extremely good.

VIEWS OF HOLY KAILASH - A PHOTO ALBUM # 10

In the next posting we will see the sacred places of Mother Parvati in Kailash .

The fifth aspect (face) of the Lord( Kailash ) is "Ishaan" . at the top of the peak, facing up to the sky. This face is the one that bestows blessings on mankind. Thus the five faces of the Lord represent five acts of the Lord.

The glacier at the feet of Shiva Sakthi from which the four rivers flow in four directions of Asia can be seen clearly from these photographs.

See how the HOLY Kailash resemblesa Shiv Lingam with the extension on the east side.

This face, faces upward and so it is difficult to witness this face from ground while doing the parikrama. This picture is the photo taken from helicopter.
