இந்த யாத்திரையை மேற்கொண்டவர் சென்னையை சார்ந்த திரு. இரவி ராமநாதன் அவர்கள். இவர் அடியேனது திருக்கயிலாயம் மானசரோவர் தரிசனம் என்னும் புத்தகத்தை பதிப்பித்தவர். 2007 வருடம் முதல் பதிப்பு வெளி வந்தது, இந்த வருடம் அவர் திருக்கயிலை சென்று வந்தவுடன் இரண்டாவது பதிப்பும் வெளியானது. இவர் பிரேமா பிரசுரம் உரிமையாளர்.

இப்புத்தகத்தை வெளியிட்டநாள் முதலாய் திருக்கயிலையில் இருந்து நம்மையெல்லாம் காத்தருளும் சிவசக்தியை தரிசனம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் அவர் மனதில் தோன்றியது, அது அவனருளால் இந்த வருடம் நிறைவேறியது. இவரது அனுபவம் மெய்சிலிர்க்க வைப்பதாய் உள்ளது. திருமயிலையில் கற்பகாம்பாள் உடனுறை கபாலீஸ்வரரிடம் திருக்கயிலை வர வேண்டும் என்று இவர் கோரிக்கை வைத்த போது முதலில் துனைவியுடன் காசி சென்று விட்டு வா, பின்னர் திருக்கயிலாயம் வரலாம் என்று உத்தரவு வந்ததாம் அது போலவே ஏப்ரல் மாதம் காசி, திருவேணிசங்கமம், கயா குடும்பத்தினருடன் சென்று விட்டு வந்தார்.

"அவனருளால் தான் அவன் தாள் வணங்க முடியும்" என்று மாணிக்கவாசக சுவாமிகள் பாடியது போல அவர் தரிசனம் என்பது அவரின் இச்சைப்படிதான் நடைபெறுகின்றது என்பது நிதர்சனமான உண்மை என்றார். அவர்கள் காசியிலிருந்து கயாபேருந்தில் செல்லும் வழியில் ஒரு சிறு விபத்து ஏற்பட்டு இவருக்கு அருகில் அமர்ந்திருந்த ஒருவருக்கு தலையில் காயம் ஏற்பட்டு அவர் கயா செல்ல முடியாத நிலை ஏற்பட்டதாம். அப்போது அந்த பேருந்து நடத்துனர் பல தடவை காசியிலிருந்து கயா செல்லும்போது யாத்திரை முடியாமல் போயுள்ளது என்று கூறினாராம். இங்கு சமவெளியில் எல்லா வசதிகளும் உள்ள இடத்திலேயே இப்படி என்றால் பனி படர்ந்த யாரும் எளிதாக அணுக முடியாத, நல்ல உடல் நிலை மற்றும் அதிக செலவாகும் திருக்கயிலை யாத்திரை செய்தவர்கள் பேறு பெற்றவர்கள் எனபதில் ஒரு சிறிதும் ஐயமில்லை.

08-05-2011 அன்று இவர்கள் காத்மாண்டுவில் உள்ள ஆலயங்களுக்கு சென்று சுவாமி தரிசனம் செய்து விட்டு வந்தனர். முதலில் அவர்கள் சென்றது பசுபதி நாதர் ஆலயம். நேபாளின் காசி என்று இவ்வாலயத்தை நாம் கூறலாம். பசுக்களாகிய நம்முடைய பாசத்தை அறுத்து முக்தியளிக்க வல்ல பதியாகிய சிவபெருமான் நான்கு முக லிங்க வடிவில் எழுந்தருளி அருள் பாலிக்கின்றார், இமய மலையின் ஆலயங்கள் அமைந்துள்ள பகோடா பாணியில் திருக்கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இவ்வாலயம் பாக்மதி ஆற்றங்கரையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இவ்வாலயத்தின் உள்ளேயே சக்தி பீடமான குஹ்யேஸ்வரி ஆலயமும் அமைந்துள்ளது. பத்ரிநாத், கேதார்நாத் கோவில்களில் தென்னாட்டவர்கள் தலைமை பூசாரிகளாக இருப்பது போல இக்கோவிலிலும் ராவல் இந்தியராக உள்ளார், இந்த ஏற்பாடு ஆதி சங்கர பகவத் பாதாள் உருவாக்கியது. பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக இவ்வாலயம் உள்ளது. நேபாளத்தின் பல்வேறு அரசர்கள் இத்திருக்கோவிலுக்கு திருப்பணிகள் செய்துள்ளனர்.

சிவபெருமான் ஒரு சமயம் மான் வடிவெடுத்து யாரும் அறியாமல் பாக்மதி காட்டில் சுற்றிக்கொண்டிருந்த பொது அவரைக் காணாமல் அல்லல் பட்ட தேவர்கள் பூலோகம் வந்து மானாக இருந்த சிவபெருமானை கண்டு வேண்ட அவர் மீண்டும் திருக்கயிலை சென்றார். அதற்கு பின்னர் அந்த மானின் கொம்பையே சிவலிங்கமாக வழிபட்டு வந்தனர் காலத்தால் கொம்பு அழிய அனைவரும் மறந்து விட்டனர். பின்னர் ஒரு சமயம் ஒரு இடையன் காராம் பசுவொன்று தானாக புற்றில் பால் சொரிவதைக் கண்டு அவ்விடத்தில் தோண்டிப்பார்க்க சிவலிங்கம் கிடைத்தது பின்னர் கோவில் ஏற்பட்டது.

நேபாளத்திலிருந்தும் வெளி நாட்டிலிருந்தும் நாள் தோறும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் இவ்வாலயம் வந்து சிவபெருமானை தரிசனம் செய்து செல்கின்றனர். ஏகாதசி, சங்கராந்தி, மஹா சிவராத்திரி, அக்ஷ்ய திருதியை, கிரகண காலங்கள், பௌர்ணமி நாட்களில் பக்தர்கள் குவிகின்றனர். மஹா சிவராத்திரியன்று பாக்மதி ஆற்றில் புனித நீராடி, இரவு முழுவதும் ஆலயம் நெய் விளக்குகளால் ஒளிர்கின்றது பக்தர்கள் கண் விழித்து விரதம் இருந்து வழிபடுகின்றனர்.

சீன அரசு இந்திய அரசு நடத்தும் யாத்திரையின்மூலம் செல்வதற்கு பல் வேறு நிபந்தணைகளை விதிக்கின்றது. முதல் குழு மே மாதம் 27தேதியன்றுதான் புறப்படுகின்றது. மேலும் ஒரு குழுவில் அதிகபட்சமாக 60 பேர்தான் செல்லமுடியும். ஆனால் நேபாள் வழியாக செல்பவர்களுக்கு இத்தகைய கட்டுப்பாடுகள் இல்லை என்பதை தாங்கள் காணலாம். மேலும் இவ்வழியாக செல்லும் போது நாட்களும் குறைவாக ஆகின்றது , நடை பயணமும் தேவையில்லை என்பதால் பலமுதியவர்கள் இவ்வழியாக செல்கின்றனர், ஆயினும் அனைவராலும் கிரி வலம் செய்ய முடிவதில்லை திருக்கயிலை அருகில் சென்ற திருப்தியுடன் திரும்பி வருகின்றனர்.

One more summer is over and the snow on the Himalayas have started melting and another season of the Kailash yatra has started. The publisher of adiyen's book on Kailash yatra Shri. Ravi Ramanathan has a desire to visit Kailash after publishing the book by the grace of Lord Shiva, his desire got fulfilled this year. He undertook the yatra during the earlier part of this year through Annapoorani travels, Chennai. In the coming posts we will see the photos taken during the yatra and the anectodes associated with it as described by him. When he sought the permission from Lord Kapaleeswara of Mylapore first He asked Ravi to first visit kasi along with his wife which he did in the month of April and undertook the Kailash yatra during May. On 08-05-2011 they had a tour of kathmandu in which they visited Pasupathinath temple, Guhyeswari Sakthi peetam and Neelkant Vishnu. They were provided with the kit bag and made last minute shopping in Kathmandu. These photos are that of Pasupatinath temple. Pashupatinath Temple, with its astonishing architectural beauty, stands as a symbol of faith, religion, culture and tradition. Regarded as the most sacred temple of Hindu Lord Shiva in the world, Pashupatinath Temple's existence dates back to 400 A.D. The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga symbol for Lord Shiva. The lord is Pasupathi "Lord of animals".

Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to pay homage to this temple, that is also known as 'The Temple of Living Beings'. This temple can be called as the Kasi of Nepal and is situated on the banks of Bagmati river in the eastern side of Kathmandu. The priests are from India a tradition started by Adi Sankaracharaya. The Sakthi peetam Guhyeswari is also situated in this temple.

There are many legends describing as to how the temple of Lord Pashupatinath came to existence here. Some of them are narrated below:-

The Cow Legend Legend says that Lord Shiva once took the form of an antelope and sported unkown in the forest on Bagmati river's east bank. The gods later caught up with him, and grabbing him by the horn, forced him to resume his divine form. The broken horn was worshipped as a linga but overtime it was buried and lost. Centuries later an astonished herdsmen found one of his cows showering the earth with milk. Digging deep at the site, he discovered the divine linga of Pashupatinath.

The Linchchhavi Legend According to Gopalraj Vamsavali, the oldest ever chronicle in Nepal, this temple was built by Supus Padeva, a Linchchhavi King, who according to the stone inscription erected by Jayadeva 11 in the courtyard of Pashupatinath in 753 AD, happened to be the ruler 39 generations before Manadeva (464-505 AD).

The Devalaya Legend Another chronicle states that Pashupatinath Temple was in the form of Linga shaped Devalaya before Supus Padeva constructed a five storey temple of Pashupatinath in this place. As the time passed, the need for reparing and renovating this temple arose. It is learnt that this temple was reconsturcted by a mediaeval King named Shivadeva (1099-1126 AD). It was renovated by Ananta Malla adding a roof to it.

Festivals: Pashupati area is regarded as one of the most important places of pilgrimages for the followers of Hinduism. Thousands of devotees from within and outside the country come to pay homage to Pashupatinath every day. And on special occasions like Ekadasi, Sankranti, Mahashivratri, Teej Akshaya, Rakshabandhan, Grahana (eclipse), Poornima (Full moon day) the whole atmosphere turns festive and mirthful as people congregate here in a far greater number.

During the Shivaratri (also spelled Shivratri) festival Pashupatinath temple is lit with ghee lamps throughout the night and the temple remains open all night. Thousands of devotees take ritual baths in the Bagmati river on the day of the festival and observe a fast for the whole day. Hundreds of sadhus (sages) from different parts of Nepal and India come here on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Auspicious Days to Visit In August, during the Teej festival, thousands of women visit the temple to bathe in the holy waters of the Bagmati River. Because this ritual is meant to bring a long and happy marriage, many women dress in red saris, which are traditionally worn for wedding ceremonies. Full moon and New moon days are also considered auspicious to visit the temple.

where shopping can be done.

As it is seen there are no restrictions for Indians visiting Kailash through Nepal, but when we travel through India there are many restrictions the first batch starts from India starts on 29th May only and only 16 batches are allowed in a year. But before that many groups would have travelled via Nepal. Ravi told that on the day his yatra started there were some five groups and in totoal there were around 90 yatris. Also the time taken for yatra through this route is only 15 days so many elderly people prefer this route but there are acclaimatization problem and also most of the time the tour operators of Nepal do not allow pligrims to do the full Kora.

KAILASH MANASAROVAR YATRA - 2011

The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is being organised by the Ministry of
External Affairs from end of May/early June to September 2011. The Yatra is
open to all Indian citizens who have attained the age of 18 years but have not
completed 70 years of age as on 01.01.2011 and who wish to proceed to Kailash-
Manasarovar for religious purposes.

2. The duration of the Yatra will be 27 days. In addition, Yatris will need to
spend 3 days in New Delhi to obtain visas, undergo a comprehensive medical
examination and complete financial formalities.

3. In 2011, it is planned to send sixteen batches each consisting of a
maximum of 60 pilgrims. Batch schedules are as follows : Batch 1 : 29th May –
27th June, Batch 2 : 4th June – 03rd July, Batch 3 : 10th June - 9th July, Batch 4 :
16th June -15th July, Batch 5 : 22nd June – 21th July, Batch 6 : 28th June – 27th
July, Batch 7 : 04th July – 2nd August, Batch 8 : 10th July – 8th August, Batch 9
: 16th July – 14th August, Batch 10 : 22nd July – 20th August, Batch 11 : 28th July
– 26th August, Batch 12 : 03rd August – 1st September, Batch 13 : 9th August –
7th September, Batch 14 : 14th August – 13th September, Batch 15 : 21st August
– 19th September, Batch 16 : 27th August – 25th September 2011.

4. Applicants should ensure that they possess an ORDINARY INDIAN
PASSPORT valid for more than six months as on September 1, 2011.

5. The total cost of the Yatra will include the following:
(a) Rs. 27,000/- (inclusive of Service Tax) to be paid to Kumaon
Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), out of which Rs. 5,000/- is to be paid
as a non-refundable deposit when confirming participation in the
Yatra, and the balance amount on arrival in Delhi to begin the Yatra.
(b) Rs. 3100/- to be paid to Delhi Heart and Lung Institute to cover
costs of medical examination / tests at Delhi. In case the applicant is
required by the medical authorities to undergo a Stress Echo Test, an
additional Rs. 2,500/- would be charged for that particular test from
the yatri concerned. These charges are non-refundable even if the
applicant is not able to undertake the Yatra eventually due to
disqualification on medical grounds.
(c) US$ 700/- (subject to revision) to be paid to the Chinese side.
(d) Expenditure on adequate equipment, clothing, food stores, porters,
baggage, ponies and other items required for the Yatra.

6. Yatra is extremely arduous (more than the Vaishnodevi / Amarnath
routes), involves trekking at high altitudes upto 19,500 feet, under inhospitable
conditions including extreme cold and rugged terrain and may prove hazardous
for those who are not physically or medically fit. The Indian Mountaineering
Foundation has recognised the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra as a trekking
expedition. There is a considerable element of risk to life and property.

7. Please note that Government shall not be responsible in any manner for
any loss of life or injury to the person, or any loss or damage to the property of
the Yatris due to any natural calamity or due to any other reason. Pilgrims
undertake the Yatra at their own volition, cost, risk and consequences. KMVN
also provides insurance against accident during the Yatra for each Yatri through
United India Insurance Company Ltd. for an amount of Rs. Five lakhs.
Government shall not have any obligation to bring the mortal remains of the
pilgrim across the border for cremation in the Indian side, in case of death on the
Chinese side. All Yatris are, therefore, required to sign a Consent Form for
cremation of mortal remains on the Chinese side in case of death.

8. Applicants should be physically healthy, medically fit and should not
suffer from conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, heart
disease, epilepsy, etc. All applicants should have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of
27 or less to be eligible for the Yatra. All selected applicants are required to
undergo a comprehensive medical examination conducted by Delhi Heart and
Lung Institute (DHLI) and ITBP Base Hospital in New Delhi. Applicants found
medically unfit will not be allowed to proceed on the Yatra, and will forfeit
the non-refundable deposit paid to KMVN and the amount paid for medical
examination. Please note that no other medical certificates or test reports
will be accepted. A list of tests included in the medical examination is given at
Annex-A of this circular for reference.

9. A second medical test to ascertain reactions to altitude trekking will be
done by ITBP at Gunji, after 5 days of the Yatra, at a height of 3500 metres.
Those Yatris who are found medically unfit here will not be permitted to
continue the Yatra. The finding and the recommendations of the ITBP medical
personnel both in Delhi and Gunji will be final and binding. In the eventuality
of a Yatri being disqualified on medical grounds at Gunji, it will not be possible
to refund the charges levied by KMVN.

10. Complete applications in the prescribed format given below should be sent
to Attache (China), China Registry (KMY), Room No. 255-A, South Block,
Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi-110011 latest by Friday March 11,
2011. For acknowledgement of receipt, please attach a self-addressed post card
with the application. Applicants are advised to send their applications by
Speedpost or Registered India Post.

11. The selection of Yatris will be done by Ministry of External Affairs
through a computer-generated random gender-balanced selection process.
Selected persons will be informed about their inclusion in a particular batch 3-4
weeks before their scheduled departure. Spouses will be automatically selected
(provided he/she has also submitted his/her application for the Yatra and this fact
is clearly indicated in the relevant column of the application form) subject to
clearing the medical test. Selected applicants will be required to confirm their
participation in a particular batch by sending a non-refundable demand draft of
Rs. 5,000/- in favour of KMVN to Ministry of External Affairs by a specific
deadline.

12. The following conditions may please be noted carefully:-
􀂾 It is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that application
contains accurate information and that it is complete in every detail
including date of birth.
􀂾 Incomplete applications will be rejected.
􀂾 Wrong information in the application form will be ground for
disqualification, even after selection has been confirmed /Yatra has
begun. Total deposit paid to KMVN will be forfeited.
􀂾 After receiving the telegram announcing the preliminary selection,
confirmation that the selected Yatri can travel, should be received
in this Ministry before the stated deadline, otherwise it will be
presumed that the selected Yatri cannot travel, and he or she will
be replaced from the stand-by list.
􀂾 Failure to pass the medical examination at Delhi and in Gunji will

􀂾 If a Yatri is disqualified on medical grounds at Delhi, he or she
will forfeit the non-refundable deposit paid to KMVN. If a Yatri is
disqualified on medical grounds at Gunji, he/she will forfeit the
total amount paid as Yatra fees to KMVN.
􀂾 The Yatra groups will leave on the scheduled dates even if
replacements called from the standby lists to fill any vacancy that
may arise, is unable to join the group in time.

13 Without prejudice to the foregoing, all claims, disputes, differences
shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts in New Delhi only.

14. Details on the Yatra may also be seen at www.mea.gov.in. Facility of
online application generation is also available on this website till March 04,
2011. However, the application will be accepted only after the print-out of the
online application and declaration duly filled in and signed by the applicant, along

1. I understand that Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is a high altitude trekking
expedition under inhospitable conditions, which may involve serious risk to the person or
property of the Yatris. I am undertaking the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra at my own volition,
cost, risk and consequences.

2. I understand that my application will be rejected and not processed if any
column is not filled in or if it is incomplete in any other respect.

3. I understand that if I have given wrong information in my application, this will
be ground for disqualification from the Yatra and for forfeiture of deposit paid to Kumaon
Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN).

4. I understand that the decision of the ITBP medical authorities either in Delhi or
in Gunji is final and cannot be challenged, that in the event of my being disqualified on
medical grounds by the competent medical authorities in Delhi, I will forfeit the nonrefundable
deposit paid to KMVN, and that in the event of my being disqualified on medical
grounds by the competent medical authorities at Gunji, I will forfeit the entire amount paid
to KMVN as Yatra charges and I shall not claim any refund thereof.

5. I undertake that I will bear full responsibility for expenses on emergency

6. I understand that the decisions taken by the Liaison Officer to maintain security
and discipline during the Yatra will be final and binding including any decision to repatriate

Second day of Inner Parikrama
(Day-17)

Today we start our inner kora from Dirapuk ( North face ) at 4:00 AM through Khande Salung. Via Palung Glacier, darchen of East Face, Kuber Kund then procede to Zhutul Puk Overnight Camp or Guest house. During the outer parikrama we pass through Dolma pass from Dirapuk and reach Zhutulpuk in the inner parikrama we travel through Kuberkund.

மேலே உள்ள வரை படத்தில் வெளி கிரி வலம் மற்றும் உள் கிரி வலம் மற்றும் நந்தி கிரிவலப்பாதைகளின் பாதை தெளிவாக காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. இறைவனை முழு அலங்காரத்தில் சர்வாபரண பூஷிதனாக தரிசனம் செய்தாலும் அபிஷேக காலங்களில் ஐயனின் உண்மையான சொரூபத்தை அப்படியே தரிசனம் செய்வதும் ஒரு அழகுதானே. அது போல வெளி பரிக்கிரமாவின் போது தூரத்திலிருந்து ஐயனின் கொடுமுடியை திவ்யமாக தரிசனம் செய்தாலும் ஐயனின் மிக அருகே சென்று அவரின் திருமுடியிலிருந்து விழுகின்ற பனியில் உருண்டு புரண்டு வணங்கும் அந்த பாக்கியம் வெகு சிலருக்கு மட்டுமே வாய்க்கின்றது. இவ்வாறு உள் கிரி வலம் செய்யும் வாய்ப்பு திரு. கயிலை பாலா அவர்களுக்கு வாய்த்தது. அவர் அனுப்பிய புகைப்படங்களின் தொகுப்பே இனி வரும் பதிவுகள். அடியேன் நேரடியாக உள் கிரி வலம் செய்ததில்லை என்பதால் ஏதாவது தவறு ஏற்பட்டால் அதை அன்பர்கள் அடியேனுக்கு தெரியப்படுத்தினால் அதை சரி செய்ய ஏதுவாக இருக்கும்.

Day 15 : Drive from Darchen to Sheralung Gompa then trek to Dirapuk

Early Morning (3 :00 AM) jeeps will drive to Sheralung Monastery starts Kailash Parikarma. Reach Diraphuk overnight Guesthouse.

Day 16 : Dirapuk

Full day at North face of Holy Mountain. Special Puja and hawan will be performed and a short walk to have closer view of Holy Kailash ( Charan Sparsh ). Overnight Guesthouse.

மேலே உள்ள வரை படத்தில் காட்டியுள்ளபடி முதலில் டார்ச்சன் ஆதார முகாமிலிருந்து தான் உள் கிரிவலமும் தொடங்குகின்றது. டார்ச்சனிலிருந்து அஷ்டபத் செல்லும் வழியில் முதலில் வண்டிகளின் மூலமாக செர்லங் புத்தவிகாரத்தை அடைந்து அங்கிருந்து நடைப்பயணத்தை தொடங்குகின்றனர். பின் ஐயனின் ஸத்யோஜாத முகத்தின் தரிசனம் மிக அருகாமையில் பெற்று டேராபுக் அடைந்து அங்கு தங்கி ஐயனின் வாமதேவ முக தரிசனமும் பெறுகின்றனர் அங்கு ஒரு நாள் தங்கி பூஜை முடித்து சரண ஸ்பரிஷமும் பெறுகின்றனர் அந்த காட்சிகளை இப்பதிவில் காணலாம்.

2007ம் வருடம் முதல் தடவை சென்ற போதே திரு.கயிலை பாலா அவர்கள் நந்தி கிரி வலமும், உள் கிரி வலமும் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று கனவு கண்டார் சிவ சக்தியின் அருளால் அந்த கனவு நிறைவேறியது என்று சிவசக்திக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகிறார் அவர்.

நந்தி கிரி வலத்தின் உயரமான இடத்தில்

கிரி வலத்தின் உயரமான இடம் சுமார் 20000 அடி உயரமான நந்தி மற்றும் திருக்கயிலாயத்திற்கு இடையில் உள்ள இடம். வெகு சில பேறு பெற்றவர்கள் மட்டுமே இவ்விடத்தை அடைந்து ஐயனின் திருவடி ஸ்பரிசமும், நந்தி எம்பெருமானின் முன் பக்க தரிசனமும் பெற முடியும். இங்கிருந்து வெகு தொலைவில் இருந்து மட்டுமே தரிசிக்கக் கூடிய (தென்)கிழக்கு முகத்தையும் அதிலிருந்து ஓடி வரும் எப்போதும் உருகாத பனியாற்றையும் கண்டு களித்தார்களாம். கீழே இறங்கும் போது நந்தி தீர்த்தம் சென்று தீர்த்தம் முகர்ந்து கொண்டு பின்னும் கீழே இறங்கினார்களாம்.
