Kailash Yatra 2011 - 5

On the fifth day of the Holy yatra ( 12-05-11) to Mount Kailash the yatri's were blessed with the first darshan of Lord Shiva. Also they were blessed with a holy bath in the Holy Manasarovar lake for which even celestials long for.

The yatris had breakfast at Dongpa (4800m) and left by land cruiser to Quhu. Before reaching Quhu on the banks of Holy Manasarovar the yatris have to cross the mighty Brahmaputra river which was fully frozen at that time as it was the month of May. They had lunch at Brahmaputra and continued their journey .

Yatri's offering their prayer to Lord Shiva

The yatri's were overwhelemed with joy at the sight of Holy Lord with bull flag, who drank the dreaded poison to save the universe. They offered their prayer to the Lord who have the beautiful Lady Uma on his left side.

As this is for what they undertook this yatra so alla the hardships they underwent on the preceeding days vanished and there was only happiness and peace in their mind. They thanked Shivasakthi for having selected them showered their grace. They rememmbered that even after three days of stay some are not blessed with the full of the Lord.

Gowri Shankar

Manasarovar stands for Mother Sakthi and Kailash is Lord Shiva. So this view of both Kailash and Manasarovar is also called as Gowrishankar or Shivasakthi. Incidentally Manasarovar which aoriginated from the mind(manas) of Lord Brahma is also consideed as a Shakti peetam. One of the 51 Holiest shrones of Mother Goddess.

As can be seen the route is well laid with pucca tar road. Earlier it used to be a bone rattling journey. Now there is lot of improvement on the Chinese side and this has reduced the difficulties of the yatris.

After the ritual bath in Manasarovar the yatris rested on the banks of the Manasarovar as the next day was a rest day for them for conductiong some religious rituals on the banks of Manasarovar.

வானத்தார் போற்றும் மருந்தே போற்றி

வந்தென்றன் சிந்தை புகுந்தாய் போற்றி
ஊனத்தை நீக்கும் உடலே போற்றி
ஓங்கி அழலாய் நிமிர்ந்தாய் போற்றி

தேனத்தை வார்த்த தெளிவே போற்றி
தேவர்க்கும் தேவனாய் நின்றாய் போற்றி

திருக்கயிலாய மலை எல்லை கடந்த இமயத்தில் கடல் மட்டத்திலிருந்து சுமார் 18000 அடிக்கு மேல் அமைந்துள்ளது. வருடத்தின் பாதி நாள் பனி மூடியிருக்கும். சீதோஷண நிலை ஒரே சீராக இருக்காது. மேலே செல்ல செல்ல காற்றில் பிராணவாயு குறையும். எனவே யாரும் நினைத்தவுடன் அங்கு சென்றுவிட முடியாது. மலையேறும் போது ஒரேயடியாக அதிக உயரம் ஏறினால் உயர்மட்ட நோய்களுக்கு உள்ளாக நேரிடலாம். இவை எல்லாவற்றையும் மனதில் கொண்டு யாத்திரையின் இந்த நான்காம் நாள் ( 10-05-11) நைலமில் ஓய்வு நாளாக அமைந்தது. இதனால் யாத்திரிகளின் உடம்பு அடுத்து வரும் உயர் மட்டங்களுக்கு தயாராகி விடும் வாய்ப்புக் கிட்டியது அதே சமயம் ஒய்வுக் கிட்டியது.

பொதுவாக திருக்கயிலாய யாத்திரை செல்ல விழைபவர்கள் ஒரிரண்டு மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பாகவே கிரி வலம் செய்ய தங்கள் உடம்பை தயார் செய்து கொள்வது மிகவும் அவசியம். அவர்களால் முடிந்த் அளவு நடை, ஓட்டம், உடற்பயிற்சி, யோகா, பிராணாயாமம் முதலியன தினம் செய்து வந்தால் யாத்திரை சுகமாக இருக்கும்.

இந்த ஒய்வு நாளை யாத்திரிகளில் சிலர் இங்குள்ள மலையில் ஏறி பயிற்சி செய்கின்றனர். அங்கு சென்று மலையேறும் போது தங்களால் கிரி வலம் செய்ய முடியுமா? என்று தெரிந்து விடுமல்லவா.

ஒரு நாள் ஓய்விற்கு பிறகு யாத்திரை பின்னும் தொடர்கின்றது. ஐந்தாம் நாள் காலை (11-05-11) புறப்பட்டு இமயமலையின் பனி மூடிய சிகரங்களின் அழகை இரசித்துக்கொண்டே 5124 மீட்டர் உயரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள லாலாங்லா கணவாயை கடந்து மதியம் சாகா (4640 மீ) என்னும் இடத்தில் மதிய உணவை உண்டு டோங்பா என்னும் ஊரை அடைந்து அங்கு இரவு தங்குகின்றனர்.

Kailash Yatra 2011 - 4

The fourth day( 10-05-11) of the yatra is a rest day. Its not really a rest day, but a day of accliamtization ( adaptation to new climate ). As Kailash yatra is an high altitude yatra the body of the yatris should get accalimatized to high altitude as there is less oxygen in the atmosphere. So the yatris stay one day at Nilayam. Also if one gain height suddenly then they may get high altitude sickness like cerebral odema or pulmanory odema so to avoid this one day acclimatization rest is given at the start of the journey.

The yatris also use this as a day of practical trekking for the strenuous parikrama. They trek on a hill situated in Nylam. Here you can see Shri, Ravi along with his co yatri at the start of the trek.

It is always better to do regular exercises, yoga, pranayam, jogging etc one month prior to the start of the yatra so that it will not be difficult for you do the required trekking of parikrama of Kailash. as this one day trek willnot help you.

After taking one day's rest the yatri's continue their journey in landcruiser to Dongpa on the fifth day (11-05-11) enroute they first pass Lalangla pass which is situated at an altitude of 5124 m, have lunch at Saga( 4640m) .

யாத்திரையின் முதல் நாள் 09-05-2011 அன்று காலை காத்மாண்டுவிலிருந்து சொகுசு பேருந்து மூலமாக சுமார் 125 கி.மீ பயணம் செய்து நேபாள எல்லை நகரமான கோடரியை மதியம் சென்றடைந்தனர்.

இந்த நகரத்தில் மதிய உணவு உண்டனர், மற்றும் அமெரிக்க டாலர்களை சீன யுவானாக மாற்றிக்கொண்டனர். பின்னர் நட்பு பாலத்தின் வழியாக நடந்து சீனப்பகுதியில் உள்ள ஜாங்கு நகரை அடைந்தனர்.

சீனாவையும் நேபாளத்தையும் இணைக்கும் நட்புப் பாலம்

முன்னரே சொன்னது போல இப்பாலத்தில் வண்டிகள் செல்ல அனுமதியில்லை. சீனப்பகுதியில் சென்ற யாத்திரிகள் தாங்கள் முழு யாத்திரையும் பயணம் செய்யும் டொயோட்டா லேண்ட் குருசியர் வாகனத்தில் பயணம் செய்கின்றனர். ஒரு வண்டியில் நான்கு யாத்திரிகளும் அவர்களுக்கு சேவை செய்யும் சேர்பாவும், வண்டி ஓட்டுனரும் ஆக மொத்தம் ஆறு பேர் பயணம் செய்கின்றனர். சேர்பா யாத்திரிகளின் அனைத்து தேவைகளையும் கவனித்து கொள்கின்றார்.

ஜங்குவிலிருந்து ஜீப் மூலம் சுமார் 25 கி.மீ பயணம் செய்து முதல் நாள் இரவு நைலாமு என்ற இடத்தை அடைந்து அங்கு ஹோட்டலில் தங்குகின்றனர். இரவி கூறிய ஒரு அறிவுரை. நேபாளப் பகுதியில் பண மாற்றம் செய்வதை விட சீனப்பகுதியில் செய்வது லாபகரமானது.

நற்றுணையாவது நமச்சிவாயவே என்று அறுதியிட்டு கூறிய திருநாவுக்கரச பெருமான் பாடிய இக்கயிலாய பதிகத்தை தினமும் நம்பிக்கையுடன் சிவபெருமானின் முன் திருவிளக்கேற்றி பாராயணம் செய்தால் நிச்சயம் திருக்கயிலை தரிசனமும் மானசரோவர் ஸ்நானமும் திண்ணம் என்பதால் ஒவ்வொரு பதிவிலும் ஒரு பதிகம் இடம்பெறுகின்றது.

Kailash Yatra 2011 - 3

On the first day of the yatra ie on 09-05-2011 the yatri's left by bus to Tibet. The border between Nepal and Tibet is a river and across the river there is a bridge so that yatri's can easily cross over by walking .

Enroute they halted at a the border town of Nepal called Kodari where they had their lunch, little rest and converted U.S $ to yuan. This day they travelled about 125 Km in Nepal by bus and 25 Km in Tibet by Land Cruiser.

This is the view of the friendship bridge. No vehicle is allowed to pass over the bridge so the yatris cross the bridge by foot. After reaching Tibet they are taken in the land cruiser in which they will be travelling for the whole yatra. Four yatris one sherpa and driver constitute the team for a land cruiser. heavy luggages are and cooking utensils and food items are transported in trucks. The sherpa looks after most of the needs of the yatris including transporting their luggage.

After crossing the bridge the yatris proceeded to Naylamu where they were given oneday rest for acclamaitasion. There they also practiced some trekking in the form of mountain climbing.

Shri Ravi suggested that it will be better to convert U.S $ to yuan on the Tibet side instead of Nepal side as you get more yuan. Or don't convert the full amount you can do 50%- 50%so that it will be benificial to you.

08-05-2011 அன்று திரு. இரவி அவர்கள் காத்மாண்டுவில் உள்ள புண்ணிய ஸ்தலங்களான பசுபதி நாதர் ஆலயம், குஹ்யேஸ்வரி ஆலயம் மற்றும் ஜலநாராயணன் என்றுஅழைக்கப்படும் புத்த நீலகண்ட நாராயணர் ஆலயம் ஆகிய ஆலயங்களுக்கு சென்று திருக்கயிலை நாதரின் திவ்ய தரிசனம் சித்திக்க வேண்டும் என்று வேண்டிக் கொண்டு வந்தார். முந்தையை பதிவில் பசுபதி நாதர் ஆலயத்தின் காட்சிகளை கண்டீர்கள் இந்தப் பதிவில் ஜலநாராயணர் தரிசனம் கண்டு களியுங்கள்.

பாற்கடலில் பள்ளிகொண்ட பரமன்

இவர் சுயம்பு மூர்த்தி ஆயிரம் பணம் கொண்ட ஆதி சேஷனில் யோக நித்திரை கொள்ளும் அழகிய கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சி தருகின்றார் ஜலநாராயனர். ஒரு குளத்தின் நடுவில் அப்படியே பாற்க்கடலில் பள்ளி கொண்ட பரமனை நாம் தரிசனம் செய்யலாம்.















இந்த ஆலயம் காத்மாண்டு நகரிலிருந்து சுமார் 8 கி. மீ. தூரத்தில் சிவபுரி மலையடிவாரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. மண்ணில் புதைந்து சுயம்புவாக ஐந்தாம் நூற்றாண்டில் கிடைத்த இந்த சிலையை அப்படியே ஒரு குளத்தின் நடுவே பிரதிஷ்டை செய்துள்ளனர்,

சதுர்புஜங்களுடன் சங்கு சக்க்ரம் ஏந்தி யோகு செய்வான் போல் உறங்கும் மஹா விஷ்ணுவின் அழகை என்னவென்று சொல்ல

தரிசனம் முடித்துவிட்டு திரும்பி வந்த பின்னர் யாத்திரிகளுக்கு யாத்திரையைப் பற்றிய முழு விவரங்களையும் ரிச்சா டூர்ஸ் நிறுவனர்கள் அளித்தனர் அந்த காட்சிகள் கீழே.

திரு இரவி அவர்களிடம் காத்மாண்டுவில் எதாவது வாங்கினீர்களா? என்று கேட்டேன், அவர் அதற்கு அங்கு எல்லாமே விலை அதிகம் எனவே வேண்டியவற்றை எல்லாம் இந்தியாவில் இருந்து வாங்கி செல்வதுதான் நல்லது என்று கூறினார். மேலும் நமது ரூபாய் அங்கு செல்லுபடியாகும். ஒரு ரூபாய்க்கு இரண்டு நேபாள ரூபாய் கிடைக்கின்றது என்றும் கூறினார். மேலும் யாத்திரை நடத்துபவர்கள் கொடுத்த பெரிய கம்பளிக் கோட்டை யாத்திரை முடிந்து திரும்பி வந்த பின் திருப்பி வாங்கிக் கொண்டனர். இவர்கள் நடைக்குச்சி தரவில்லையாம். ( முதலிலேயே யாரையும் கிரி வலம் செல்ல அனுமதிப்பதில்லை என்று முடிவு செய்து விட்டார்கள் போல உள்ளது)

On 08-05-2011 Shri Ravi and his group of yatris, visited the Pasupathinath temple, Guhyeswari Temple and Shri BuddhaNeelakntNarayan temple also known as Jalnarayan temple . You are seeing Narayan in His yoganidra in the following pictures.

Maha Vishnu ln yoga Nidra ( yogic sleep) 

This temple is situated 8 Kms from north of kathmandu at the foot of Shivpuri ranges. The vishnu statue of Budhanilakanta narayan was found buried in the ground in its original state. The statue is estimated to be thousand years old and shows Lord Maha Vishnu lying on the cosmic waters before the universe was created. Here one can see the the image of Vishnu reclining on the bed of thousand hooded AdiSesha dating back to the 5th century AD. The statue is situated in the middle of a pond and seems to float in water.

Vishnu is lying with in his four hands the typical Vishnu symbols like the on the picture clearly visible discus (chakra), left of Vishnu's head. The chakra is Vishnu's main weapon to fight demons and Sangu(conch).

According to Hindu mythology every major time area (Yuga) starts and ends with Vishnu sleeping in the cosmic ocean for millions of years. The universe starts (explodes ??) with Brahma being born out of the navel of Vishnu. After that Brahma starts creating. When an erea ends everything is sucked back into the breath of Brahma who dissapears again into the navel of Vishnu (implosion ?) and Vishnu will sleep until the next cycle .

The yatri's were given their kit bag and were briefed on the procedure to be followed during the yatra. Ravi told me that in the kit bag essential items were there. The great coat given was returned after the yatra was over. As you can see from the photos most of the yatris are aged. As lot of trekking is not involved in the yatra through Nepal may be many old people prefer this route. he also told that they were not given walking stick .
